PokerStars Bonus Information

The bonus scheme used by Stars is a model which has been replicated across many sites and the majority of new sites in operation have adopted a similar model.

Every time you play a hand in a raked game or enter a tournament you are rewarded with a certain number of Frequent Player Points (FPPs) as well as VIP Player Points (VPPs). By accruing VPPs you increase your VIP status and progression up the levels means more benefits.

There are six levels that a player can achieve: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Supernova and Supernova Elite. The top two levels (Supernova and Supernova Elite) are determined by a yearly VPP total rather than a monthly target for the other four.

The better your status the more FPPs you can accrue per hand, for example: Silver players will earn 50% more FPPs per hand above the standard Bronze player, whereas a Supernova player will earn 250% more per hand. These FPPs can be used to purchase a number of items from the FPP store and the more points and better your VIP rating the better gifts you can buy.

For players at a more modest level the store is stocked with plasma TVs, poker tables, signed merchandise and even PokerStars branded cuddly toys. You don’t just have to fill your houses with endless stress balls, chip sets and poker books as FPPs can also be used to buy-in to a number of different tournies.

Tournament tickets are available for a number of the site’s largest guaranteed tournies, including the Sunday Million, which means you can achieve the ultimate spin-up and parlay a clutch of points into a pocket load of $$$.

Cash bonuses are also available, with varying amounts for different FPP totals. And if that wasn’t enough, there are also regular VIP level specific freerolls which gives players another shot at earning some free money.

Being one of the most progressive and innovative sites means that Stars never like to rest on their laurels and their loyalty scheme is constantly backed-up by regular deposit and re-deposit bonuses and special offers and tournaments for their players.

PokerStars Loyalty Program

For Supernova Elite players the sky’s the limit as Stars provide a personal concierge service.

In addition to the numerous cash incentives, freerolls and VIP services Supernova Elite players get free tickets to two major live tournaments around the world including, Monte Carlo, Sydney and the Caribbean. Tournament players can also have the extra incentive of the Tournament Leader Board (TLB).

If you’re serious about your MTTs and regularly make the money you have a chance to win some amazing prizes. Top the TLB at the end of the year and you’ll receive a PokerStars passport pre-stamped and ready to use for five live tournament destinations of your choice. Tournament sicko Shaun Deeb has clinched the prize for the past two years but with more passports on offer (with fewer stamps) there is a huge amount on offer for MTT grinders.

One major drawback with Stars though, and something their rival FullTilt has capitalised on, is that they don’t do rakeback. Their loyalty scheme makes it possible to earn cash bonuses but it isn’t until the top two levels that this becomes comparable to many rakeback programmes.

Low stakes and casual players therefore seem to lose out on those bankroll boosting bucks. While this doesn’t seem to affect their player intake it is definitely something worth considering if you’re a new player looking for the best way to gain some extra dollars in your pocket.
