RedKings Poker Review

The biggest draw for Red Kings is their software. Crisp, clean graphics are complemented by smooth game play and a host of table options. Avatars are standard but can easily be switched off; however, they are well put together and make for a great looking playing environment.

The table design and background are also extremely aesthetically pleasing and it is certainly one of the most positive aspects of the site.  There are three size options for the table: standard (about 2/3 of a standard screen), mini (about ¼ of a screen) and full screen. Manual resizing is not available, which is frustrating, but the mini view table is a well thought out size and isn’t so small that you need a magnifying glass to read your cards.

The lobby is idiot-proof and you can be seated at a table of your choosing within seconds with the quick seat tab. In three easy steps you can set the game you want to play, the buy-in and the format and you are instantly seated at the next available table.

For those of you who like to spend a little more time choosing your table each game has a specific tab and is uses drop down menus to filter between every table running or specific types.

Once you’ve negotiated the lobby and admired the pleasantries of your surroundings you can set a number of in-table options to further refine your playing experience. Big card symbols and a four colour deck is available, as is the ability to display information such as bet amounts, stack sizes and hand values.

Clicking on the table’s hand history feature brings up an internet page with the information displayed, which rather inconveniently pops up on top of the game window. Using this feature isn’t entirely necessary though as the chat box can be set to display a lot of information, including: chat dialogue, betting action and the cards dealt (these are shown in pictorial form).

This means that players can easily look back and visually see which cards were dealt and what action occurred. The chat box can also be extended to sit at the site of the table, which gives a greater visibility to the previous happenings at the table.

Taking notes and categorising players is also fully integrated into the software and users have the ability to designate specific symbols and titles to certain types of players. The notes are then stored locally on your computer and provide an excellent way to easily keep track of the fish at the table.

These symbols are also visible in the lobby so when you see a player sitting whom you’ve previously tagged they are instantly recognisable.

Probably the biggest advantage of the software at Red Kings is their java client. Almost every site requires you to download their software in order to play which makes playing on public computer or on the go almost impossible. Red Kings is fully downloadable but their web based game client allows players to play anywhere.

Their software is also compatible with Macs and Linux systems making them the most widely accessible site in operation. In addition, it is also available for mobile download so if you’re ever stuck on a boring train journey and feel the need to splash some pots then Red Kings is the perfect site. This feature trumps all others and is something almost no other site can offer their players.

Red Kings certainly has some of the most attractive and powerful software in the poker industry and their multi-lingual staff make their customer service excellent.

If Ongame can ever reintegrate themselves with the US market then Red Kings could easily become a major threat for the likes of FullTilt and Stars on almost every level.
