Victor Chandler Poker Review

The VC Empire has grown significantly over the past few years and this growth in size and popularity has seen it become one of the major players on the iPoker network. Their stylish aesthetics and excellent incentives make VC one of the best skins to choose on the network and with the brand spanning sports betting, spread betting and casino games there is little more a professional gambler could want.

VC Poker

The overall rating of VC poker is very good but that’s not to say that it isn’t without its faults. Let’s start from the bottom and that way things can only get better. Firstly, and this has to be my biggest criticism of not only VC poker but all the sites on the iPoker network.

The inability to manually resize the tables. It baffles me (and I’m sure the majority of the poker community) why VC and all the iPoker sites can’t utilise a software feature that is common across nearly every other site. Unless you have three monitors on the go desktop space is usually at a premium and the ability to resize tables to a manageable (and still legible) size is something every online player requires.

In my opinion VC fail miserably in this department as their software only allows you to view tables in “normal” mode which takes up 1/3 of your screen, or mini mode which condenses the table down to its basic components and the size of a postage stamp. Thus, players become entwined in catch 22 situation of either having to overlap giant tables on their desktop or tile miniature tables like a mosaic across one half of their screen.

Either way the situation isn’t ideal and for site with resources of VC the situation is bewildering. Another annoying aspect of VC is the amount of short stackers the site attracts. Why their tables have become a haven for push bots is unclear but for those wanting to indulge in some proper deep stacked cash poker the constant emergence of short stackers can become frustrating. In all fairness, VC have now created 50bb minimum and full stack cash tables but these tend to take longer to fill than regular tables as the culture of short stacking seems to have developed across the network.

Fortunately those lows are the only two major black marks against the site and in the balance between positive and negative the scales are tipped firmly in the favour of the pros. New players to the game can benefit immensely from the generous deposit bonuses and beginners’ tables on offer. Newbies can also boost their bankrolls by playing the popular Double or Nothing (DoN) sit and gos which run in either HU, 6max or 10max format.

The rake charges are generally higher than standard sit and go charges but solid play and patience can pay dividends in these games; especially at lower stakes. Jackpot sit and gos are also available on the site with buy-ins ranging from $2 to $50. Players who win a set number of games in a row can receive some jaw dropping prizes up to a whopping $200k.

VC is also the sponsors of the annual National Student Poker Championship in the UK which brings a lot of fresh blood into the game. Regular players can benefit from the site’s large player pool.

Being associated with the iPoker network means the player pool is universal; therefore, players can switch from on of the smaller sites, take advantage of better deals and still fleece their regular fish.

The customer services provided by VC is excellent and their live support client which operates 24/7 makes them the most efficient and effective service in the industry.

The site’s software, in general, is very good and the lobby uses drop down menus on the left hand side of the game client to make navigation simple and efficient. There is also a dedicated tab entitled “My Tournaments” that allows players to instantly see which tournaments they are playing in or registered for, which is particularly useful if you get disconnected. Although the background colours aren’t changeable the black styling makes VC’s table aesthetics more attractive than most.

Overall VC offers players a solid platform to play the odds. The speedy game play makes it possible to play many hands per hour and while the size of the tables may be restrictive the overall look is very pleasing.

The support VC offer is second to none and the regular bonus offers and acknowledgement to customer loyalty is why they are associated with the third largest poker operator in the industry.
